Abridged Pause Recordings Announces Vision Éternel Boxed Set Plans
Abridged Pause Recordings has officially announced plans to release the Vision Éternel boxed set “An Anthology of Past Misfortunes“. This is a release that’s been in the works since early 2015 and in talk since early 2010. If you’re a die-hard Vision Éternel fan, that title may sound familiar. It was originally used in February of 2009 for a Japanese-exclusive compilation regrouping the band’s first two EPs; “Seul Dans L’obsession“, released in 2007 on Mortification Records, and “Un Automne En Solitude“, released in 2008 on Mortification Records. At the time, the Japanese compilation regrouped all of the released EPs, plus three b-sides and a poster, which made it somewhat of a discography. The band liked the title so much that it had to be re-used for a proper anthology/discography of the band.
The “An Anthology of Past Misfortunes” boxed set will be similar to Soufferance’s “Travels” boxed set, which was also released through Abridged Pause Recordings, in August of 2013. The Vision Éternel boxed set will be hand-designed (painted and decorated) and will include no less than seven CDs or 7″ vinyls, a DVD and possibly some cassettes. Most of the material in the boxed set will be appearing on physical format for the first time!
The first five CDs or 7″ vinyls will be the five Vision Éternel EPs released to date; “Seul Dans L’obsession” (2007), “Un Automne En Solitude” (2008), “Abondance De Périls” (2010), “The Last Great Torch Song” (2012) and “Echoes From Forgotten Hearts” (2015). On top of that, no less than two CDs will be filled with demos, b-sides, alternate takes, rehearsals and different mixes and masterings. There are currently four hours of unreleased material to go through. The boxed set will be extremely limited, as it will be hand-made. The boxed set will also have room for any future Vision Éternel releases, which will be designed to fit in the box, pressed in limited quantities and sold inexpensively to all who own the boxed set.
